Dr. Wizdom Powell is joining Headspace Health as Chief Social Impact and Diversity Officer. This is a new role for our executive team as we continue to enhance our focus on impact and DEI&B, in line with our vision to be thought-leader as an equitable brand, product and workplace. For those who are not familiar, since November 2020, Wizdom has served as our beloved Creative Diversity Director for Headspace in a consultant capacity. She is a psychologist, tenured professor and expert in racial trauma, justice, and healing. Most recently she served as Director of the Health Disparities Institute (HDI) and tenured Associate Professor of Psychiatry at The University of Connecticut. In her role as HDI director, she built academic-private sector-community partnerships to advance HDI’s legislative mandate to increase health equity among CT’s medically underserved. She has published numerous op-eds, policy briefs, peer-reviewed articles, and book chapters. In addition to being a White House Fellow, she is an American Psychological Association (APA) Minority, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Kaiser Permanente Burch Leadership, Institute of African American Research, and Ford Foundation Fellow.

In this new role, Wizdom will work with her team and the organization to help position Headspace Heath as an authority in mental health, wellbeing and DEI&B. Through internal integrated education and programming, external impact programs, and government relations, she will empower us as an organization to authentically lead, advocate and create change. She will continue serving as our Creative Diversity Director in addition to taking on these new responsibilities.
