Mike Medel has more than 30 years of pharmacy and healthcare industry experience, including over 15 years as a pharmacy consultant and leader at PSG. In his role, he oversees the consulting practice for employers, health systems, and labor unions. His background is well-rounded and includes many aspects of managed pharmacy services, such as overall strategy development and implementation, clinical support, contracting, network strategy, manufacturer relations, utilization and cost management, project management, and operations. Prior to rejoining EPIC/PSG, Mike worked as the Senior Director of Managed Pharmacy Solutions, at Banner Health, a 29-hospital system providing leadership and strategy for its accountable care organization (ACO) and other risk-based operations. He also has operational experience in hospital pharmacy practice as a pharmacy leader at University of Chicago Hospitals, where he was part of the team that managed inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services. Mike also has vast knowledge in the managed care pharmacy environment as the founding member of the pharmacy department and serving as Vice President of Pharmacy Services for AMERIGROUP Corporation, which is now part of the Anthem Inc. suite of products. Mike earned a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University and a Doctor of Pharmacy from University of Illinois College of Pharmacy.
