As Senior Director, Matt serves as a pharmacy sales and account management executive leader and is a strategic partner to National Accounts/O3000 clients and Cigna Medical sales. He provides oversight of a team of clinical and professional account executives who provide complete pharmacy account management support through close working relationships with Clinical, Operations, Contracting, Marketing, Underwriting, and Sales organizations who proactively provide complete pharmacy benefit analyses that are geared to demonstrate the value of Cigna Pharmacy to our client’s overall benefit strategy. Matt also retains the role of Coordinated Benefits Strategy Lead (Cigna Medical/ESI PBM client relationships) in support of Cigna Medical sales relative to helping clients and producer partners better understand our “side by side” relationship and the impact of pharmacy benefits on medical value and performance.
Matt’s work history covers a full spectrum of clinical, quality, and business experience. He previously served as Senior Market Manager, Regional Pharmacy Administrator and Senior Clinical Account Manager for Cigna which involved direct oversight of team management, pharmacy expense management, resolution of health care professional and customer pharmacy issues, medical data management, and pharmacy medical management. Prior to this role, he served as Manager, Healthcare Communications and Education for Pro ED COMMUNICATIONS, INC.®, a fully integrated health science agency supporting pharmaceutical manufacturers in their education, marketing, and publication initiatives. Prior to that, Matt served management roles for PharMerica, Inc., providing pharmacy services to long-term care and assisted living facilities, and Critical Care America, providing infusion and home health services.
Matt is currently licensed as a registered pharmacist in the state of Ohio. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy in Columbus, Ohio with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. Matt also received his Master’s in Business Administration from John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio. He also serves as an Associate Clinical Instructor at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy as well as having served on the Alumni Board of The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy and has worked directly with pharmacy students for internships and preceptorships.
