Katy Gozalka currently serves as the chief executive officer of the Heartland Health & Wellness Fund. She assists with the day-to-day administrative health plan operations to over 30,000 plan participants. Gozalka exhibits broad knowledge in employee benefit plans, Taft-Hartley multiemployer plans, ERISA self-funded plans, mergers, benefit communication and wellness programs. She began her career with the Michigan UFCW Unions & Employers Health & Welfare Fund in 2013, working her way up to chief executive officer. During her time, she obtained several designations and awards, including the Michigan Governor’s Healthy Workplace Award in 2015 and 2016. In December 2021, Gozalka obtained her Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation from the International Foundation of Employee Benefits and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor of arts degree and from Wayne State University with her master’s degree in kinesiology. Gozalka then went on to obtain her doctor of philosophy degree in public health from Walden University, specializing her research in motivation and sociodemographic factors in community health.
