When she accepted Sacred Heart University’s offer to become their Director of Employee Benefits in September 2015, Liz Henderson’s career path went from having a “job” in the world of healthcare and insurance to a “way of life” in a higher education community. With 20 years of corporate insurance industry experience in account management and benefit consulting, Liz has comprehensive oversight of the SHU benefits and promotion of employee wellness while collaborating with the SHU HR and Finance teammates, as well as vendor partners. Liz’s passion and contribution toward healthy and diverse lifestyles started after graduating with her bachelor’s in education and then was employed by not-for-profit companies who serviced adults with varied abilities, including Autism and Down Syndrome. She encouraged and advocated for individuals who lived in group home settings to empower themselves and become active
participants in their Long Island communities. Currently finishing her Master’s degree in Business Analytics, she’s taken her love for detail to a different level by arming the SHU employee benefit portfolio with programs related to their specific needs. Advocating for positive change in healthcare is important for Liz, as she sits on the board for the CT Business Group on Health and is a member for Moving to Value Alliance. Originally from the Catskill Mountains in New York, then raised her daughter on Long Island, she now resides in West Haven, CT.
