Barbara Gniewek a Principal in PwC's Global People & Organization Tax practice, serves as the national Health & Welfare practice leader and resides in our New York City office. As a healthcare strategist, she consults with employers, providers and health plans on strategy, operational excellence, product design, sourcing / private exchanges, cost savings, funding, communications and health reform. Barbara has over 30 years of health care consulting experience. Her broad experience includes a variety of consulting engagements focused on areas such as:

* For Employers: development of successful health benefit and wellness strategies in a changing healthcare environment, evaluation of sourcing partners / private exchanges, evaluation of the impact of health regulations on benefits, workforce and bottom line, providing vendor strategy and management services, performing claim, operational and customer service assessments, identifying cost reduction opportunities, and assisting with compliance activities.

* For Payers and Providers: developing new products, establishing health plans for providers, market assessment and evaluation, assisting with complex compliance efforts, developing Private Exchange strategies, assessing / remediating compliance risk, operational improvement -- claims, customer service, sales and distribution, underwriting, HR, provider relations/contracting, providing vendor management support, conducting enterprise cost reduction, and providing / overseeing turnaround services.

Barbara is a leader in evaluating and understanding sourcing strategies, and named a top Private Exchange leader shaping the future of health care by Employee Benefit Advisor. She leads PwC’s national claim assessment practice and manages PwC’s Touchstone survey.
