As the Chief Digital & Technology Officer (CDTO) at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City, Dr. Barad spearheads enterprise-wide digital strategy, leveraging cutting-edge technology to transform patient care, optimize operations, and drive clinical excellence.

Before joining HSS, Dr. Barad served as Chief Digital and Information Officer at Allegheny Health Network (AHN) and Highmark, where he used technology to guide the system toward a population health model rooted in interoperability, innovative care models and digital and virtual health solutions. His leadership encompassed Epic EMR integration, data analytics, ML/AI, and IT operations—all aimed at improving outcomes and reducing costs across the organization.

A board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist, Dr. Barad received his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, completed his pediatrics residency at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin, and pursued a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Northwestern University.
